Our mission is to unlock the full potential of rail data through blending deep industry expertise with modern cloud-native technology, to deliver actionable insights in real-time to address real-world operational and business challenges.

We are looking for an experienced Senior Rail Operations professional.

The role will focus on the existing Mistral Data suite of applications for Rail Operations, including Sirocco (Control Centre on the day decision support), Solano (Staff Mobile application for front line and control staff) and Berth Maps (schematic application for real-time railway berth movements). Working closely with a team of Product and Project Managers the role will provide subject matter expertise and insight to ensure quality delivery of agreed application priorities, help generate future opportunities and contribute to a strategic approach to the range of current and future rail operation applications

Your main responsibilities will be:


Strategic Guidance & Advice

Offer insight and recommendations for new commercial opportunities by understanding the market, industry and product opportunities

Project Planning

Understanding customer’s demands and challenges support product teams to create plans consistent with expectations and consistent with the broader Rail Operations strategy

Project Delivery

Using effective stakeholder management and railway systems knowledge, help unlock tactical and complex challenges and ensure that deliverables are seamless adopted by customers

Compliance and Standards

Act as an authority on the latest railway standards and regulations and communicate the impact to key stakeholders

Customer Engagement

Promote MDL’s reputation as market leader in railway operations applications with existing and prospective customers

Commercial

Provide insight into commercial opportunities in the market through knowledge of competitor product costs, end of life expiry, customer sentiment and market gaps

As a minimum, you will need to have:

  • 10+ years experience of Railway Operations across multiple passenger rail operators and/or Network Rail routes
  • Experience of Railway Operation system deployment either as a key customer or part of system delivery team
  • Proven ability to engage with customers in a language style they are comfortable with avoiding unfamiliar terms and reference
  • Demonstrable experience of good customer engagement, including the ability to communicate effectively, manage expectations, negotiate and influence and resolve concerns
  • Proven leadership style capable of promoting products, encouraging positive relationships, supporting effective teamwork, raising morale and empower and inspire individuals and Team members 
  • Team player, who can operate effectively as part of a team, working with colleagues to overcome challenges
  • Railway Operational Management Qualification
  • Self-starter with an enthusiasm to learn and an inclination to look for solutions to challenges
