About the role

Mistral Data is looking for an experienced Cloud Security Engineer to manage, monitor and remediate issues in our AWS accounts and services to ensure their security.

This is a key role within the company, which will play a crucial part in accelerating our company's growth, with outstanding opportunities for personal development.

You should have experience/knowledge of AWS services that can be used to ensure accounts are monitored for any issues and understand what different issues could mean to the security of the monitored accounts and how to remediate them.

You will be encouraged to improve the security of the accounts by building additional tools, reporting, and alerting capabilities.

You may be asked to assist in the development of CI/CD pipelines and IaC templates and offer advice on security best-practice and architecture to our project/development teams (DevOps & DevSecOps).

You will be heavily involved in the planning and development of our next generation of security management tools and applications.

Your main responsibilities will be:

  • Share knowledge and best practices with wider team.
  • Manage Identity and Access Management (IAM) to provide users appropriate permissions to systems and software.
  • Monitor AWS accounts and services to detect and remediate security issues.
  • Develop tools and services to provide additional monitoring and alerting.
  • Work with development teams to ensure security best-practice is being followed and offer advice on architecture and cost optimisation best-practice.
  • Work with our customers to explain detected vulnerabilities and recommend remediation options.
  • Identify commercial opportunities to existing and new customers.
  • Develop and share best practice across the team.
  • Provide software development expertise into other Mistral Data projects.
  • Continually develop new cloud-based services skills within AWS and to share and influence others in the proposed use of these services.
  • Assist in the development process of a new security monitoring, reporting and remediation platform.

As a minimum, you will need to have:

  • AWS Certification – at least Associate level but preferable to hold professional or security speciality.
  • Experience is engineering using either NodeJS/JavaScript or Python
  • Experience with CloudFormation
